Insouciant Summer

~ Zara blouse, Zara shorts, Vintage belt, Miu Miu Clutch, Miu Miu pumps ~

Fulfilling my promise, I managed to drag myself out of bed and purchase a polka dot blouse. Surprisingly, I found it quite easy to find a perfect pairing with my new found treasure. I opted for a pair of mid rise shorts with a plain leather belt, and sticking to my colour scheme, a pair of black patent stilettos and a soft leather clutch. These days, I seem to find myself instantaneously grabbing a pair of structured shorts of a material I prefer to be close to silk instead of my outworn denim shorts. Must be a me thing. On a different note, after just viewing Breakfast At Tiffany's for the first time (and loving it), I've decided that the next trend for me to conquer will be the backward necklace.

~ the sheer fabric and the fact that it floats in the wind is what attracted me to this blouse ~

Cat Eyes

Ah, cat eyes, how I adore you (yet I hate cats). Will one ever get enough of the ever elusive cat eye? I think not. Whether it be on my eyes, or my eye glasses, I idolise the iconic cat eye look. There's something quite sultry and exotic about the particular style that makes me believe that I will never quite get enough of it. In fact, my favourite pair of sunglasses just happens to be of a cat eye frame. So the next time you're rushing out the door, don't forget to give your eyeliner a subtle flick. I mean, who can't resist a day of resemblance to a 60's icon?

Arm Candy

Gorgeous, no? As of late, I am warming up to the concept of exhibiting a statement piece in my everyday outfit rather than a range of complimentary, and rarely contrasting colours. Unfortunately for me, I'm never quite confident enough to pile on the baubles when it comes to accessorising. But I digress, and seeing as summer is around the corner, taking inspiration from elegant fashionistas on the street seems to be my best hope.

Welcoming Spring

~ Marc by Marc Jacobs cardigan, T by Alexander Wang t-shirt, Zara shorts, Miu Miu flats, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, Michael Kors watch ~

As the weather starts to sizzle and the humidity starts to roll in, the last thing one wants to do is dress in suffocating body con garments. During the summer months, my uniform tends consists of tailored shorts, over-sized tees, and a brightly coloured bag for that much needed pop of colour. Although the power shoulder made its gracious exit a lifetime ago, a ballooned shoulder is something I cannot resist, and when glittered stripes are added into the equation, there is no tearing me away.

Spot On

~ Louis Vuitton ~

~ i'm loving how the buttons add to the effect of the already present polka dots ~

~ Stella McCartney ~

It's official, polka dots are back. Now, I don't mean to sound that in a negative tone, but I haven't always been the biggest fan of spots and polka dots. Although seeing the trend play out on the runway this Spring season, I have almost been convinced otherwise. Rather than just the traditional printed patterns onto fabric, laser cutting and light chiffon fabrics revealed themselves. Although I don't see myself dressing in spots on spots, incorporating a couple of pieces into my wardrobe doesn't seem to be a horrifying concept. Will you be working this trend for Spring?

Off the Shoulders

I've been noticing a trend where in chilly yet not glacial weather, people have been nonchalantly throwing their jackets over their shoulders instead of utilizing the customary armholes. Personally, I find this look chic and elegant, and have been practicing this skill myself. I find this practice particularly useful on days where you step out of a department store building where the AC has been jacked up to sweltering magnitudes, and instead of taking the liberty to transfer your belongings from one arm to another in order to forcefully drive your arm into the armhole, one would just throws their jacket over their shoulders in a single swift movement. Now, the garment that resulted from this stroke of genius, is the ever-cool cape, which I have yet to get my hands on.

Neon Flash

As an avid fan of the Tom Binns and Erickson Beamon neon themed jewellery for the current and past season, it's no wonder that I would soon get on the band wagon and try a DIY version of the extraordinary pieces that I have long desired for, yet still do not own. Sticking to the 'fluro' motif, I ransacked my nail varnish box for the pink fluorescent varnish I stashed away years ago, and the bright orange polish I purchased last season. This project was exceptionally easy to complete, and can surely be carried out on various other shades and pieces (i.e. necklaces, brooches, etc.).

Pastel Palette

~ Josh Goot cardigan, Gap singlet, Zara shorts, Mulberry bag, Miu Miu flats ~

I was thankful that my last day of freedom before school commences again for spring, that the weather graced us with the presence of the sun and clear blue skies. While assembling my first true warm weather ensemble, I was drawn towards a pastel colour scheme with a pair of fresh white shorts. I've decided that my goal for the summertime is to incorporate bright, invigorating colours that will trump the monochromatic colours that I seem to keep hoarding season after season. I admit, these are my first pair of white shorts, and yet, I am quite impressed with the way it pulls together the light ensemble.

~ i love how sheer cardigans, such as this one, float in the wind as you move ~

Break from Reality: Part 2

~ view from below ~

I must admit, after my adventures in a town (for a mere 4 days) where my routine was basically: wake up, eat, sit by the pool, eat, sit by the beach, eat, sleep, I am not entirely content about returning to my former life of non-stop chaos. Whilst my vacation certainly served as a well needed break from pulling all-nighters due to studying for tests, I've decided that I've had enough of the sun for now, and actually wouldn't mind returning to a city where the person sitting next to you in a restaurant doesn't exactly acknowledge you. I hope you've all had a fantastic week, and here are just some snippets (and basically my holiday in a nutshell) for you.
